Bob Jeffery is a saxophonist from Adelaide, South Australia.
Biography[]
Jeffery started from a young age playing the saxophone almost before he could talk. By age sixteen he was a rock renegade, arriving at gigs in leathers, with his sax strapped to the back of his Triumph Tiger. This was the age in Australia of the infamous "bodgies" with their "ducks bum" hairstyles and winkle picker shoes; our variation on the English teddy boys. During this time Bob became a member of Adelaide's famous Penny Rockets.
He has played extensively in the UK and USA and is much sought after for recording sessions and live gigs. Bob previously taught saxophone at the Elder Conservatorium. For many years he and wife Jackie (an accomplished drummer) led the Adelaide Hills Big Band, until prohibitive public liability insurance meant that they could no longer use the local hall for rehearsal.
