Ross McHenry is a bass player and composer from Adelaide, South Australia. He is well known as the leader of The Shaolin Afronauts and as a solo artist.

Biography[]

McHenry is a member of such ensembles as Max Savage and the False Idols, The Transatlantics, Hurricanes and his own successful afrobeat ensemble The Shaolin Afronauts. In 2013 he released the album 'Distant Oceans' under his own name, in 2014 he won 'Best Jazz Artist' at the Fowlers Live Music Awards and in 2016 he released his second solo album 'Child of Somebody.' McHenry also works for Nexus Arts through which he has programmed numerous live music events in Adelaide.

Ross also received a Marten Bequest Scholarship and the APRA AMCOS Art Music Award for Excellence in Jazz.
