Full Tote Odds is a hip hop group from Adelaide, South Australia.
Biography[]
Consisting of brothers and rappers, Levelheaded & Eslev, as well as Mix Zagger Dj Sanchez, Chris Weber, Willy Metzer & Jack Radford, the boys from Full Tote Odds have been in the music game for more than 15 years.
Hailing from a hip hop breeding ground in the Adelaide Hills, Levelheaded and former FTO MC, Slats were members of the group 'Train Of Thought' which released a highly acclaimed Demo (2002) and a hit debut album Moving Heads (2004). The Moving Heads LP was released through Obese Records and featured two emerging Adelaide acts Hilltop Hoods and Funkoars. The album gained national recognition in the Oz Hip Hop scene and the boys performed with a number of well-known acts including Hilltop Hoods, Jungle Brothers, Hyjack & Torcha, Pegz and Funkoars. They were recognised as a Triple J next crop artist and performed live in the Triple J studios with Robbie Buck on the Home & Hosed show. Their left wing political track, ‘Counter-War Terrorism’ appeared on the international compilation ‘Peace Not War’ alongside marquee artists Jurassic 5, Michael Franti and Lyrics Born.
In the meantime, Eslev was developing and honing his own musical abilities. A man of many talents, Eslev was a member of Adelaide metal band Headbore and worked on several hip hop projects during the mid 2000’s. His passion for the acoustic guitar saw him work with various artists including Purpose (Pagen Elipsis) and Jack Radford by incorporating the acoustic sound into production. Working closely with Mix Zagger, he produced the sound for the release of FTO’s first album, ‘Place your Bets’.
Levelheaded released his debut solo album, ‘The Spice Of Life’ in 2009 which Eslev predominantly featured on as well as guest appearances from Trials (Funkoars) and Reason (Obese Records). Eslev became integral to the live show and travelled extensively as the album tour reached Melbourne, Geelong, Hobart, Adelaide, Loxton and Berri. The lead single ‘Bounce’ received national airplay on Triple J and the LP was nominated for Australian Hip Hop album of the year on Ozhiphop.com. Levelheaded supported West Coast heavyweight, Xzibit and Obese Record’s Spit Syndicate in 2010 as well as playing to a sell out crowd in Mt Hotham.
The first single ‘Southern Wind’, from the LP ‘Place Your Bets’ was released in November 2011. The single was instantly pushed to high rotation on Triple J and the music video, shot by esteemed filmmaker Richard Coburn has been played on Channel V, Rage and The Loop. The second single, ‘What’s going down’ was released in 2012 and was made an exclusive on the Triple J Home & Hosed show shortly after. The music video was created by Unity Sound & Visual and is just as impressive as it’s predecessor.
Since the release of ‘Place Your Bets’ in 2012, the boys have toured the country supporting acts such as Dialectrix and Spit Syndicate, performing at the Margaret River Pro Surf Classic, The Big Day Out, Homebake Festival and Come Together Festival. They also supported the National Slaughterhouse tour as well as playing sell out shows in their home town.
Their sophomore record ‘The Chosen Few’ was released in 2015 through MGM records.
