In 2020 they supported Stereolab (UK) at Bonython Hall for the Adelaide Fringe and later released ''[[Nuisance Pooch]]. ''Filming of an ambitious DIY video clip for Nuisance Pooch began in late 2020 and production is yet to be completed. In 2021 The Cortex Shift released [[Eat the Rich and Steal Their Spaceships|Eat The Rich and Steal Their Spaceships]], moving in a heavier direction and utilising the more modern production style of Depict Studios. At the launch show for this release the band was joined by accomplished pianist Ciara Ferguson who later agreed to join the band. An eighth release is due in 2022. It is set to be a five track EP with recording scheduled for March at Depict Studios.

The Cortex Shift is a Jazz-Rock band from the Adelaide Hills, South Australia led by Kyle Opie.


Biography

The members of The Cortex Shift met as students of the music program at Heathfield High School in Heathfield, South Australia. Their first public performance was at the Hoot! Adelaide Hills Jazz Festival in June of 2012. In August that same year they won the Imaginate Battle of the Bands. Recording began for their first album, Quest of Chin in 2013, but it wasn't released until 2016.
